This booklet is the outcome of the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren project 2004-2006 conducted as a partnership with the University of Victoria, Parent Support Services and the Association of Family Serving Agencies, and funded through the Strategic Initiatives Investment Fund. The booklet contains general information (Child Development; Health and Safety; Common Issues Facing Children; Special Issues Facing Children in Kinship Care; Financial Assistance; and Coping Strategies) for any grandparent or relative raising a grandchild in Canada, as well as some specific information about legal, First Nations and community supports for grandparents and relatives residing in British Columbia, on Vancouver Island and in the Greater Victoria region.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Documentary - "Parents Again"
On February 16, 2008, W-Five aired a documentary, called "Parents Again" regarding grandparents raising grandchildren. The documentary highlights three Canadian grandparents from Ontario who represent some of the complexities and legal issues many grandparents here in B.C. have expressed in regards to raising grandchildren. Other highlights include some of the policy discrepancies, legal and living costs grandparents are facing in their efforts to provide primary care, permanency and family connection for their grandchildren: Watch the documentary
