Supporting Families Through the Childcare Crisis: PSS on CBC Radio One

This morning, Parent Support Services Society of BC (PSS) was featured on CBC Radio One, highlighting a growing crisis facing families across the province: the lack of affordable, accessible childcare.

In the story, parents and caregivers shared the financial and emotional strain of navigating a system that often leaves them with long waitlists, high fees, and few options. Our staff had the opportunity to speak about how PSS supports families through this crisis—with community-based programs such as our parenting support groups which often step in when formal systems fall short.”

“Caregivers realize that they are not alone. They can be heard, get ideas from other caregivers and overcome reality, because, it’s tough. These days is tough.”- Azucena Martinez

At PSS, we know that when systems fall short, community steps up. That’s why our work rooted in care, connection, and culturally safe support, is more important than ever. From parenting support groups to our Kinship Care Help Line, we’re here to walk alongside families who are navigating these challenges every day.
