Violeta Munoz-Berruecos

Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

Violeta Munoz-Berruecos was born in Mexico. In 2006 she immigrated to Vancouver, Canada. She obtained a Bachelor in Social Work from the The Autonomous University of Tlaxcala. In 1995, she become a social activist and politician who worked for Social Justice, Human Rights and equity, reasons for which she left her home country. She is the mother of two boys who teach her every day about the challenges and the value or raising kids in a different country and culture.

Violeta began as a volunteer with Parent Support Services Society of BC in 2015, when she started a new Spanish Parenting Support Group in New Westminster; with the support and guidance of Bella Cenezero. This Group has been a safe space for many Spanish speaking families, where everyone is listened to, supported, and valued. Violeta is now the Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for PSS. Her role is promoting the organization and looking for volunteers who can support families from diverse cultures.
