Grandparents Day Picnic is more than a celebration, it’s a space to honour grandparents and shed light on the experiences of kinship caregivers, especially grandparents who are unexpectedly parenting for a second time. While raising their grandchildren, many are also managing their own health and aging needs, all while navigating financial challenges, and complex systems like MCFD and family law. Learn more about the children in Kinship care here.
Through this event, we’re building a joyful, inclusive tradition that also helps fund the free programs like our parenting support groups, educational workshops, and our Kinship Care Help Line, that many of these families rely on in BC. With your support, we can grow this event and build new partnerships that continue to empower all caregivers.
Speak to an advocate | Kinship Care Help Line
We offer a help line where grandparents and other kinship caregivers can confidentially speak with a trained advocate social worker about family law, child welfare services, family benefits, and other resources.
