$600 Rent Supplement Program for young adults (aged 19-27)

This is important information for some grandparents and other kinship caregivers whose children are now young adults. MCFD has a new rent supplement program where young adults (aged 19-27) may apply for a $600-a-month rent supplement for up to two years. There is limited funding and we think it is first come, first serve. So applications need to be sent in quickly.

The deadline is March 20th at 11:59PM. But if possible, apply sooner.

To be eligible:

  • The young adult must have been adopted/had their custody permanently transferred to someone other than their parent between ages 12-19. (Unfortunately, this does not include custody orders through the Family Law Act)
  • OR have spent 24 cumulative months in any care status (in BC) between the ages of 12-19.
  • OR be eligible for the Agreements with Young adults program (less applicable for youth raised in kinship care).
